Conny Goelz
Schmitt

Conny Goelz Schmitt is a German-born artist based near Boston, Massachusetts. She transforms vintage books into geometric wall sculptures and collages that explore memory, transformation, and the spaces between structure and chance. By dismantling books and removing their original narratives, she creates new visual languages from their materials alone.

Raised in Germany, shaped by more than a decade living in Taiwan, and now working in the United States, her practice reflects the intersection of these three cultures: German precision, the subtle color sensibility she absorbed in Taiwan, and the experimental spirit she found in America.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and is included in public and private collections in the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. She is the recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship and has completed artist residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Pouch Cove Foundation in Newfoundland.

Each sculpture evolves through a dialogue between intention and discovery, inviting viewers to experience familiar materials as spaces for reflection, curiosity, and new possibilities.
